Ocean City

I've sprung from the sea like a glittering Venus,
taking slow steps on the frothy sand.
A wave threatens my balance and I am
bowled over and tossed back into
its salty fingers.

The sand and pebbles scrape my knees
and palms and tiny droplets of blood
appear, but I pay them no mind.
I am content to tumble in the surf,
to be made smooth like a river rock,
squealing with glee as the
ocean cleanses herself over me
again and again.
